Both of the series capture the spirit of subjects very well. I like that they seem to be just a simple theme. Lee has the intimacy and Kelly's interpretation is vivid.
as Preston wrote, the light in Kelly's playground shot is brilliant! :))) magical geometry of light on the faces the slide the sky the reflection as if a 1,000 points of pops of bulbed light :)))..gorgeous!
I also like that Lee's use of "neighbor" isnt just about people livin' in the same hood but also about visual "neighbors" in the frame :)))))....synchronicity :)))
Shot 2 in the first series and shot 3 in the second series. I'm glad to see those :o)
Actually, the first time I saw the barby shot I didn't realize that there were children watching. I guess that just makes it better.
Thanks for the nice comments and thanks David for posting the photos. Lots learned during that week, things that are still being processed. Everyone should do a workshop like this to really bring into focus what needs work in your work. My biggest lesson had more to do with behavior than technique, although I did learn one huge techno item. Thanks again David and hope that Uptown is still improving.
Thanks Andrew. It was a tough week but way productive. My life since returning to Maui has been extremely busy with closing my cafe, visitor, and catching up. My favorite shooting right now is right outside my window. I am amazed at the number of different views and shots with weather and light just outside my window. It really brings home how much is right under our noses that we grow so accustomed to seeing that we become blind to them. Just like our life. Hope all is well with you.
Thank you EVERYONE for your encouraging words and comments. I'm greatful to have been given the opportunity to be in this workshop and really thankful to David, Marie, Michael, AJ, and all of my classmates for helping me and pushing me. What an experience!
MICHAEL K. - Thanks for your comment. I understand what you're saying about Kelly005 not fitting as obviously into the series. We debated this in class. The theme was a bit broader than "Never Grow Up"... I was looking a child's view of New York and the feeling of wonder from a child's perspective. Good to hear your take on it.
BOB - Thank you for your comment and enthusiasim!! It makes me smile everytime I see one of your posts with all of the ::))) !!!!!::)))))))
ANDREW - I loved spending time with you and learning from you. I can't wait to see what you do next.
DAVID - A thousand thank yous for the workshop, your coaching, this forum and your friendship. You countinue to go above and beyond for your students. Thank you and I'm looking forward to seeing you again soonest.
I liked both, but the first series especially appeals to me. It makes me feel as though I am with you in that neighbourhood. The third shot is a shot i'd expect of DAH, somehow, and that is of course a good thing.
A nice, warm (with perhaps the exception of photo no.5 colour-wise, which to me lacks the red hues present in the other photos..) series. I enjoyed it!
I like both series, once again strong compositions and great use of light. I like the cohesive nature of Kelly Lynn's work.

Very good work.
Love the moment in Lee002.
Not sure about Kelly005. It's a great photo but I can't see how it fits with the rest.

Kelly's swing picture is very clever! Superb light in the playground shot, too.

Lee 05 I find really powerful and Kelly 02 I like a lot, nice and dreamy. Obviously the rest of it is good but these two particularly stand out.

Lee- Way to persevere through that intense week! You have some great pictures to show for it.
Kelly- Great job. Your work and sensitivity was an inspiration.
Hope you both are doing well.
